What to watch before VisionQuest: a focused catch-up guide
Watch WandaVision, then Agatha All Along before VisionQuest for the core TV story. Add Avengers: Age of Ultron first if you want Vision and Ultron's origins.

Watch WandaVision, then Agatha All Along before VisionQuest for the core TV story. If Vision and Ultron are new to you, add Avengers: Age of Ultron before those shows.
That's our catch-up recommendation, rather than an official prerequisite list. You don't need to turn starting a show into a months-long Marvel project.
Checked October 21, 2026. The first sections avoid ending spoilers. A clearly marked refresher later discusses the WandaVision finale. We don't reveal VisionQuest episode twists.
What to watch before VisionQuest, in priority order
Disney describes VisionQuest as the final chapter of the TV trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. Here's how we'd prioritize your time.
| Priority | What to watch | Why we'd include it |
|---|---|---|
| Start here | WandaVision | The closest setup for Vision's unfinished story |
| Then watch | Agatha All Along | The next chapter of the trilogy and the wider family storyline |
| Add for origins | Avengers: Age of Ultron | The foundation for Vision and Ultron's connection |
| Add for relationship background | Captain America: Civil War, then Avengers: Infinity War | More context for Wanda and Vision before WandaVision |
If you've seen the movies but missed the shows, start with WandaVision. If you've seen both shows, check the refresher below before deciding you need a rewatch.
Why WandaVision comes first
WandaVision is the one we'd put ahead of every optional movie rewatch. Its suburban sitcom setup becomes a story about grief and identity, and the ending leaves a particular Vision question open.
That makes it more useful preparation than a broad MCU chronology. You want the emotional context, including why remembering a life might differ from feeling connected to it.
If it's been years, revisit the final 2 episodes. Episode 8 rebuilds Wanda's personal history; episode 9 resolves Westview while leaving room for what comes next. Head writer Jac Schaeffer discussed those choices in her finale interview with Entertainment Tonight.
For a first watch, we'd keep the whole season intact. Skipping to its answers takes away much of the reason to watch.
Where Agatha All Along fits
Watch Agatha All Along after WandaVision. Disney's official guide places it between WandaVision and VisionQuest and describes it as deepening the Maximoff family story.
We recommend including it for that wider context. WandaVision still gets priority if your immediate question is how Vision reached this point.
You can decide how much preparation you want. A returning fan looking for a reminder needs a different plan from someone meeting these characters for the first time.
Which Marvel movies are optional background?
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Add this first if you're unfamiliar with Vision and Ultron. It gives their shared history more weight.
In D23's October 14 interview, showrunner Terry Matalas points to their final Age of Ultron scene as a creative starting point. That's a stronger reason to revisit a film than wanting to tick every box on a franchise timeline.
Civil War and Infinity War
These are our next choices if you want more of Wanda and Vision's relationship before WandaVision. Marvel's WandaVision primer traces Wanda's earlier story through that period.
Watch Civil War before Infinity War. We'd add them when you're interested in the relationship, rather than delay the TV trilogy until you've rewatched every Avengers appearance.
WandaVision ending refresher: which Vision returned?
Spoilers for the WandaVision finale follow.
The Vision inside Wanda's Westview reality and the rebuilt White Vision are separate versions. During their confrontation, White Vision regains access to suppressed memories and leaves.
Schaeffer told Entertainment Tonight that having those memories doesn't make him the same partner Wanda knew inside Westview. That distinction matters: a memory can survive without restoring the relationship around it.
VisionQuest's official UAE listing follows a rebooted Vision trying to understand himself while hunted. That's the starting premise, rather than an answer to where his story ends.
Keep the catch-up separate from the new episodes
Save the shows you still want to start, and mark the episodes you've actually finished. That helps when you're moving between an older season and a new release.
In LazyWatch, you can swipe to mark an episode watched and open that episode's Comments when you're ready to talk about it. Each episode has its own thread, so your WandaVision rewatch has somewhere to go beyond the general Marvel conversation.
Our guide to keeping track of TV shows covers a practical setup. If you're catching up with someone, agreeing on the same episode checkpoint helps keep the discussion where you both are.
Start with WandaVision. Add Agatha All Along for the fuller TV story, and Age of Ultron if you want the origins. Leave yourself time to enjoy the show you came for.
Common questions
Do I need to watch WandaVision before VisionQuest?
We recommend it. WandaVision establishes the version of Vision whose unfinished story continues here. If you've already seen it, revisit the final 2 episodes rather than restarting automatically.
Should I watch Agatha All Along before VisionQuest?
Yes, for the fuller TV storyline. Disney identifies WandaVision, Agatha All Along and VisionQuest as a trilogy. Our priority is WandaVision first, then Agatha All Along.
Do I need to watch every Marvel movie first?
No. Our focused route is WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Avengers: Age of Ultron adds Vision and Ultron's origins; Civil War and Infinity War add relationship background.
